‘Hocus Pocus 2’ Coming to Disney Plus

Disney Plus is lighting the Black Flame Candle and bringing the Sanderson Sisters back from the past (again) for the sequel!

It’s the early days of October, the leaves are changing, and on cue the best Halloween news we can receive is here: there is going to be a Hocus Pocus 2! Look out, children of Salem; the Sanderson sisters are back (again).

It’s time for pumpkin picking, hot apple cider, haunted houses and decor, and of course, the witchiest Halloween movie ever. Since it was released by Disney in 1993, Hocus Pocus has gathered a significant cult following, and grown into the must-watch film of the spooky season.

Last fall, it was announced that Walt Disney Studios had a new Hocus Pocus film in the works. However, it was unclear at that time whether it would be a sequel or a reboot. Now, twenty seven years after the original, we know for sure. Disney Plus is lighting the Black Flame Candle (if you will) and bringing the Sanderson Sisters back from the past (again) for the sequel!

This new installment is written by television writer and producer, Jen D’Angelo, and directed by Adam Shankman, known for his work on the film Hairspray. As of now, a release date for Hocus Pocus 2 has not been shared with the public. However, rumors are flying that the original films three stars, Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah Sanderson, Kathy Najimy as Mary Sanderson, and Bette Midler as the magical ringleader, Winifred Sanderson, will be included.

This spectacular news is not to be confused with the recently published Hocus Pocus and the All New Sequel by A. W. Jantha. This combination of two stories in one details the events of the original film in the first half, followed by a scenario of modern day teens faced with the same dangers and odds that Max Dennison had been challenged with. This is another fun way to submerge yourself in the Sandersons’ story that we know and love in a new way.

For the time being, we anxiously await the sequel’s trailer, which should drop soon after filming begins. Regardless of the wait, Hocus Pocus 2 is sure to put a spell on viewers.
