Hear Stephen Hawkings Take on “Relativity” for National Poetry Day

National Poetry Day in the United Kingdom is October 8, and the celebration is getting a jump-start thanks to the contributions of celebrities. Organizers have released videos of famous people reading poetry, including a recording of scientist Stephen Hawking reading a poem called “Relativity.” Check it out below!

Sarah Howe is the poet behind the work, which really gets a boost from Hawking’s distinctive synthesized voice. Other celebrities recruited for the project include actor Sean Bean, who read “Notes on the Art of Poetry by Dylan Thomas:

Organizers are hoping the viewers will craft their own responses. They’re holding a contest that will celebrate words, images, and videos responding to poetry. The winners will be put on display in Blackpool on Thursday, October 8.
