When Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War was released, it was often referred to as the “most ambitious crossover event”, but Marvel could not have known what was to come in May 2020. Just this week, Harry Potter met Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging in the most ambitious crossover of all, as Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome welcomed their first child.
Rupert Grint is best known for his part in the Harry Potter franchise, having portrayed Ron Weasley in all eight films. His partner, Georgia Groome, is no stranger to the camera, or the world of book-to-screen adaptations, as the actress behind the iconic olive costume in the 2008 film version of Louise Rennison’s Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging.
The news of Groome’s pregnancy broke just last month, and she gave birth to a baby girl this week. A representative of the pair indicates that they have asked for privacy, and if ever there was a time for step away from the limelight, it’s after the birth of a child! The couple have managed to fly relatively under the press radar over the course of their relationship spanning almost a decade, with many surprised at the pairing of two legends of modern British consciousness.
In 2018, a tweet depicting the couple went viral, which served to educate the masses on the couple, who have been dating since 2011.

There has been no news of a name for the baby just yet, but if Grint’s interview with the Guardian is anything to go by, our hopes of a Potter namesake may be crushed:
I’d like to settle down and have kids soon. If I had a son, would I call him Ron? It’s quite a good name, but probably not. And Grint’s a tough name to pair a one-syllable first name with.
Don’t worry though, there’s always Ginny.
