To mark the centenary of Roald Dahl‘s birth on September 13th, the Oxford English Dictionary has added words that were created by Dahl himself. Dahl wrote classics like, Matilda, The BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and many others. He created words in his books that meant something new. They are now being added to the dictionary to celebrate his life as an author and illustrator.
Here are some of the words being added:
Oompa Loompa : tiny orange beings (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory)
the witching-hour : when every child and grown up is in a deep sleep (The BFG)
Scrumdiddlyumptious : more than scrumptious
