If you have, you may have heard some of the stories from Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz, a compilation of horrific and gruesome stories that will make you jump with fright.

The Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is part of a three-book collection, narrated by Alvin Schwartz and includes haunting illustrations by Stephen Gammell. The first book is getting its own modern film adaptation which will be produced and written by Guillermo Del Toro (Shape of Water) directed by André Øvredal (The Autospy of Jane Doe) and financed by Entertainment One and CBS.
The premise focuses on a number of deaths inspired by the stories from the book, occurring in an unnamed town and it’s up to a group of teens to solve the mystery. The casting has started for the movie, some of the actors that have been casted are: Michael Garza (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 1), Austin Abrams (The Americans), Gabrile Rush (The Grand Budapest Hotel) and Natalie Ganzhorn (Wet Burn).

While neither a production nor release date have been announced yet, the anticipation has got us all on our toes. We hope that the film adaptation will keep us on the edge of our seats and keep the horrific yet entertaining feel that the classic books have expressed.
