‘GoT’ Star Confirms George R.R. Martin’s Final Book Ending

Fans were curious about how Game of Thrones would continue when there was no more material to adapt. The A Dance With Dragons arc had concluded, and George R.R. Martin’s anticipated The Winds of Winter novel was nowhere in sight. However, one thing that was always planned was the crowning of Bran the Broken.

According to Express, Bran actor Isaac Hempstead Wright confirmed that Martin always intended for the character to become ruler of Westeros.

“[Creators] David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] told me there were two things [author] George R.R. Martin had planned for Bran, and that was the Hodor revelation, and that he would be king—so that’s pretty special to be directly involved in something that is part of George’s vision.”

While the show’s biggest plot points and conclusions will likely end the same way in Martin’s final books, the show’s secondary characters are confirmed to have slightly different endings.

Martin once told 60 Minutes, “I don’t think Dan and Dave’s ending is gonna be that different from my ending because of the conversations we did have.”

“But there’s no way to get in all the detail, all the minor characters, all the secondary characters.” Martin added.

It was nice to see the show’s younger generation of characters inherit leadership in the end, even with all the controversy surrounding the fates of other fan favorites.

Fans who were expecting something different from the finale now have an alternate ending that they can look forward to. The only question is how long it will take for Martin to write it all down.
