‘Gossip Girl’ Reboot Has A Production Start Date.

Gossip Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite. HBO’s reboot of the show will begin filming in New York City in October, Variety confirms. According to a Warner Bros. spokesperson, shooting will start towards the end of the month. WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group Chief Ann Sarnoff also confirmed to press that production for the studio’s scripted series will start soon in Vancouver, New York and Los Angeles.

The reboot will launch on the upcoming streaming service HBO Max. A 10-episode series is set eight years after the original’s show finale and will follow a new generation of private school teens who have to navigate around the world of social media and the Gossip Girl website. Original cast member Kristen Bell is set to reprise her role as the narrator of the show. Emily Alyn Lind will play a lead role in the reboot. Other cast members include, Whitney Peak, Eli Brown, Jonathan Fernandez, and Jason Gotay.

Original creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will return as executive producers. The original Gossip Girl costume designer, Eric Daman, will return to dress the new generation. Gossip Girl the reboot was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, meaning that the show’s premiere date is still unknown.

“Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The prestige series will address just how much social media—and the landscape of New York itself—has changed in the intervening years.”
