Thank you for joining us! Let’s begin the interview!

Where are you from?

I am from Nebraska, but I currently live in Minnesota.

Why did you start your Bookstagram?

I started my Bookstagram to share my love for books with others. I got back into reading back in 2022. At that time, I posted my bookish thoughts in my stories on my personal IG account. After a few weeks, I thought creating a page where I could talk about books 24/7 with other book lovers would be fun. Nearly two years later, it’s one of my best decisions.

The Rom Con by Devon Daniels and another open book lay surrounded by decorations in various shades of pink. Among them are tissue paper flowers, leaves, blankets, and bows made of book pages.

What do you want your Instagram to bring to the world?

I want my Instagram to bring laughter and joy to the world. Life is stressful. I want my page to be a place where people can laugh, smile, and forget about their everyday stressors. Additionally, I want my page to be where there are no stigmas around “taboo” topics. To that end, I love making posts that touch on topics such as mental health and women embracing their sexuality. I also want people to know they are welcome no matter what they read. If they read dark romances? Wonderful. I have a rec for them. If they’re looking for swoony rom-coms? Amazing, I’ve got them. And so on. :)

Three romance books by Meghan Quinn are displayed on top of a series of decorations. Among them are white and pink flowers, leaves, pinecones, open books, bows made of book pages, and pearls.

What books are on your TBR List?

My TBR is a million miles long but here are several:

Who would you have supply you with a lifetime of books?

Oh my goodness — there are so many authors I’d love a lifetime supply of books from — Ana Huang, Elsie Silver, Kat Singleton, A.L. Jackson, Kennedy Ryan, Elle Kennedy, Lauren Asher, H.D. Carlton, Jescie Hall, Catherine Cowles, Abby Jimenez, and so many more!

What does your Bookstagram mean to you?

As cheesy as this might sound, my Bookstagram truly is my home away from home. It’s where I go to laugh and smile. It’s peaceful, and just like reading, it is a great escape from reality.

Love & Other Words by Christina Lauren and Icebreaker by Hannah Grace are placed side-by-side on a dark brown wooden desk. Around them are a pink keyboard, matching pink candles, a pencil, a heart-shaped jewelry box with beaded bracelets, a pink mouse and mug, and a box of pink press-on nails. The computer monitor displays a love-themed collage and the wall behind it has paper conversation hearts taped to it.

What’s your favorite bookstore?

A local favorite is Magers & Quinn, but I also love Barnes & Noble.

What’s your aesthetic/Instagram page theme?

Right now, I’m going for a rustic, cozy vibe. I’m excited to play around with this aesthetic more in the upcoming months.

Irresistible by Willow Aster is displayed with various rustic decorations. Among them are a pair of brown loafers on the lower right, another open book, a sheet of old western-themed stickers, another open book next to a blanket in the upper left, bows made out of book pages, and annotation tabs. White flowers, pine cones, pumpkins, and autumn foliage fill up any available space on a wooden table.

Any advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers?

Be yourself! Your Bookstagram is your space to shout about your love for books. People are drawn to authenticity; you will find your people much quicker if you don’t try to fit a mold. Booksta might be a saturated niche, but there is more than enough room for everyone, and part of the fun is seeing/hearing unique aesthetics and perspectives. Also, let your creativity flow. You don’t have to have the most aesthetic space to be a Bookstagrammer, but if you want to try new photo/graphic ideas, DO IT :)

Any additional bookishness?

I’m super excited about a new bookish endeavor I have up my sleeve this year! I will discuss it more on my page sometime soon, but I plan to offer services to authors where I create photos/graphics for their upcoming releases. This new project is a fun way to help authors focus on their writing and further exercise my creative muscles.

Bookstagram is an amazing way to find a multitude of lovely bookish communities like Mani’s. A huge thank you to Mani for letting us get to know her and explore her beautiful content! Make sure to follow her on Instagram @booked_with_bubbly! You are sure to love her and her page!
