George R. R. Martin took to his blog this week to hint at the release date for the next Game of Thrones instillation, Winds of Winter, a book he’s been working on since the release of A Dance with Dragons (though realistically, this world is so well established that you could say he’s been writing it since before 1996). And by hint I mean hint.
In a reply to a blog comment, the author said “The first volume of Fire and Blood should be completed soon. The second is hardly begun.”
When a commenter replied, “Just out of curiosity: will Fire and Blood be released before or after Winds?” Martin responded with, “F&B will be in two volumes. Vol 1 before, vol 2 after.”
So there you have it. Don’t expect the sixth book of the series to drop any time soon, but if you’re a fan of the series you know by now to not hold your breath.
