‘Games of Thrones’ to Deliver “Bloodiest Season Yet” Says Actress

Game of Thrones has delivered some of the most gruesome, shocking, and controversial character deaths on television and page. From watching characters die by means of receiving boiling gold poured on their heads to being bludgeoned to death to being stabbed in the back by their own allies, the sheer violence and intensity of their demise makes you wonder if it could possibly get any more brutal. Well, in short, the answer is yes.

In an interview with Gold Derby, actress Sophie Turner revealed that the bloodiest season of Game of Thrones has yet to come.

“Everyone is coming together to fight the impending doom. There’s a lot of tension between these little groups, battling for what they think is right,” she said. “It’s Game of Thrones so it’s going to be bloodier and more death and more emotionally torturous than all the years before.”

While this is probably not shocking news to fans – given that this will be the final season we’re sure to see loose ends tied up (by any means necessary) – it nevertheless leaves you wondering where the show can go that it hasn’t gone before.

The series has previously earned backlash for its controversial scenes depicting explicit violence, including a scene depicting the rape of Turner’s character by the character Ramsay Bolton. Turner spoke about the growth of her character since her troubled storyline with Bolton.

“I always saw something of a warrior in Sansa that I don’t think other people really saw,” she told Gold Derby. “I always had the feeling that she was learning and adapting and at some point or another it was going to manifest itself somehow. And she manifested it into being a warrior.”

Turner added that it felt “satisfying” watching her character grow into the warrior she always felt she was.

“I’m really happy where this story-line for her has ended up.”
