Kristian Nairn, known for playing the humble, caring, giant Hodor in HBO’s acclaimed fantasy series Game of Thrones, will be working with HBO once again for an upcoming series entitled Our Flag Means Death.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Our Flag Means Death is a comedy, somewhat based on the true life of Stede Bonnet, an aristocrat-turned-pirate. The show’s creator and showrunner is David Jenkins. Nairn is cast as the pirate Wee John Feeney.
So far, five other actors have been cast in Our Flag Means Death: Samson Kayo, Rory Kinnear, Nathan Foad, Vico Ortiz, and Con O’Neill. Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnorak) is not only the show’s executive producer but will also play the infamous pirate Blackbeard on the show and will direct the first episode.
The Hollywood Reporter also mentioned that since his time on Game of Thrones, Nairn has starred in Robin Hood: The Rebellion and The Appearance. The seven-foot-tall Irish actor is also a successful DJ. He even headlines his own show, “Rave of Thrones,” described on his official website as “a fully immersive Game of Thrones clubbing experience.”
No release date for Our Flag Means Death has been announced yet.
