All good things must come to an end and the Fifty Shades of Grey (as told by Christian) trilogy is no exception. Over the weekend, author, E. L. James announced the final book’s release date in a “Save the Date” style teaser along with the promise of an upcoming cover reveal. The author announced that the final book in the trilogy, Freed: Fifty Shades Freed as Told By Christian, will be released on June 1.
The series is a spinoff of the wildly popular Fifty Shades of Grey series, which follows the intense relationship of college graduate, Anastasia Steele and business mogul, Christian Grey. The spinoff trilogy also chronicles the couple’s relationship, but from the point of view of Christian Grey. Freed: Fifty Shades Freed as Told by Christian follows the first two books in the series, Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as Told By Christian and Darker: Fifty Shades Darker as Told by Christian.
In a press release, James described this final installment in the story of Anastasia and Christian as a “labor of love.” She went on to say, “For me, just as for Anastasia Steele, Christian is a challenging, infuriating and endlessly fascinating character. Living in his head is exhausting, but I got to explore aspects of his life in Freed that we only glimpsed in the original trilogy, and to follow his emotional growth in response to Ana’s love and compassion.”
