In honor of the 100th anniversary of James Joyce’s A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Barry and Sam McGovern put together a literary map of the main character’s journey. The map allows you to follow Stephen Dedalus as he wanders around the streets of Dublin. The best part is, Stephen’s life “is in parallel to Joyce’s own journey” according to The Guardian.
By following the locations on the map, you will not only get a better understanding of the book, but you will also better understand Joyce himself. “You can see from the interactive map that Stephen’s Dublin and Joyce’s Dublin are very close to each other.” For any serious fan of James Joyce, the pilgrimage through Ireland will be an enlightening experience.
