The Grammys premiere on Sunday, February 12, and it’s going to be a star-studded show. Every year, authors are given a shot at an award by way of the ‘Best Spoken Word Album’. We know that this is simply a fancy term for ‘audiobook’, but hey – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. won this Grammy award posthumously in 1971 for his speech, ‘Why I Oppose the War in Vietnam’.
This year, there are five audiobooks up for the award. According to Entertainment Weekly, “The nominees are Amy Schumer’s The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo, Carol Burnett’s In Such Good Company, Patti Smith’s M Train, and Elvis Costello’s Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink. The fifth contender is John Doe’s music history tome Under The Big Black Sun: A Personal History of L.A. Punk.“
