Ex-Cop-Turned-Stripper-Turned-Bodyguard Releases Hilarious Tell-All

Steve Stanulis might not be a name you know, but it will be. Despite threatening to pen a tell-all for years, it was only in 2018 when Stanulis felt comfortable enough to actually write his autobiography. “I didn’t want to throw anyone under the bus. I wanted to pursue a career. I wanted to do it under my terms.” Before the book came out, however, Sex and the Shield was also an off-Broadway one-man show, taking over Club 42 West in Manhattan. Centering around the former cop and stripper, the show benefited the Silver Shield Foundation to help families of fallen NYPD officers.

That’s not all though. Stanulis’ time as a celebrity bodyguard is thanks to none other than notorious money manager Dana Giacchetto. “He said he would call me, but I was thinking it was nonsense— until he did, to say, ‘Leo’s here, he wants to meet you at 8 o’clock,” Stanulis said. “I had a bachelor party, so I couldn’t get there until 8:30. We had nothing in common. I was feeling weird. I had just had my first knee injury, a torn ACL, so I was talking about that. He said, ‘Ah, I tore mine making Basketball Diaries!, can I see your scar?,'” Stanulis says. “‘Well, if you don’t mind this G-string I’m wearing.’ That broke the ice. That was it.”

According to the cop/stripper/author, after bodyguarding DiCaprio, “everybody wanted me”. His other clients? Cameron Diaz, Michael Stipe, and Tobey Maguire. Immediately before the 2016 Met Gala, Kanye West fired him for allegedly flirting with Kim.

Stanulis’ original draft of Sex and the Shield was over 400 pages long, though he’s paired it down to a measly 194. “If people want more, I’ll just write another one,” Stanulis says with a laugh.
