Emma Watson, actress and philanthropist, who was recently criticized for her comments on feminism, has been a global advocate for women’s rights. In the face of the backlash, Watson tweeted that her words were taken out of context and presented us with the entire transcript of her comments.
Then, today, she took to the streets to hide books for people to read in honor of International Women’s Day. Watson has previously hidden books in London tube stations and the subway in New York City. This is a part of her initiative to help people read more literature by and about women.
She even wore her red!
Watson’s project seeks to distribute more than 1,000 books chosen by her book club, Our Shared Shelf. The books are hidden in public spaces for people to pick up. Will a book fairy leave a book in your city?
