Clarke, who is most well-known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in HBO’s Game of Thrones, revealed in 2019 that she suffered from two aneurysms and later underwent two brain surgeries which led to intense and painful recoveries in the ICU. Clarke recalls the anesthetist who kept her calm and even giggling, the surgeon who performed her life-saving surgery, the nurses who washed her body with “care and love”, the cleaners who kept her room tidy when she was unable to, and the cooks who made her favorite meal every day. Clarke concluded her letter by writing, “In all of those three weeks, I was not, not ever, truly alone.”
