Don’t Expect Dany & Jon’s Relationship to Be Focus of ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8

If you were hoping to see some seriously soap opera-inspired fallout occur when the relationship between Daenerys and Jon Snow is revealed to external characters in the upcoming (and last) season of Game of Thrones, well sorry not sorry, you may be disappointed.

As our very own and wise Ser Davos Seaworthy recently reminded us, there are more urgent storylines that will play out in season 8 and the drama caused by our beloved couple will have to take the backseat.

In an interview with Metro, actor Liam Cunningham crushed the hopes of us drama enthusiasts by prioritizing the storylines awaiting us in season 8 of Game of Thrones and putting the Dany and Jon affair below another huge plot.

Though the actor did suppose that the Northern king may have to “deal with the fallout” of his incenstuous relationship with the mother of dragons, the fallout sounds insignificant compared to another problem.

Cunningham explained:

There is a bigger issue with the Night King coming through the wall, so there is a more immediate problem than that. Incest goes down the priority list when there is a huge army coming down to kill everyone. Perhaps they will deal with that later, I don’t know.

Given that the final season of Game of Thrones is rumored to have a mere six episodes, we think Cunningham’s theory may be pretty spot-on.

While the show has clearly established an ominous vibe pertaining to the growing relationship between the aunt-nephew duo (i.e. a worrisome Tyrion Lannister playing peeping Tom on their lovemaking), maybe we shouldn’t be surprised if a resolution happens pretty quickly.

Given that season 7 spent a pretty long time dramatizing the tension between Arya and Sansa (just to resolve it abruptly in the finale, turning fiery glances into butterflies and rainbows), fans may only witness the dramatic fallout occur (and resolve) over an episode or two.
