Have you ever wondered what goes into creating a Pixar film? How do they come up with these story ideas, and how does the beginning of Up make you cry (at least a little bit) every time? Now you can learn from the best minds at Pixar, and it’s all online for free.
Pixar has teamed up with online education provider Khan Academy to create “Pixar in a Box,” a video series that brings viewers into the world of movie making. Previously, they’ve covered aspects of what goes into their animation, but now they’re sharing their storytelling methods with all of us.
According to Variety, the series will continue for the rest of 2017 and include lessons on how to make stories emotionally appealing, as well as how to create unique characters, dialogue, and settings. Lessons will be taught by some of Pixar’s top directors and animators such as Pete Docter, the director of Up, Inside Out, and Monster’s Inc.
You can watch a preview for the new installation of “Pixar in a Box” below and visit the site at pixarinabox.org to watch all of the lessons online.
