It’s official! Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has won The Evening Standard Theatre Award for best play of 2016! The Cursed Child was written by J.K. Rowling and Jack Thorne and follows Harry Potter in his adult life with his three children.
The Cursed Child debuted on stage in June of this year and the play was released in book form July 31st of this year.
The Evening Standard said,
“The best play award, given in association with the Evening Standard’s official arts partner Hiscox, went to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The script for the smash hit production was created by JK Rowling alongside playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany. The award was accepted by Thorne, Tiffany and Noma Dumezweni, who plays Hermione Granger in the production.”
