Penguin Random House has revealed the cover of The Tale of Kitty-in-Boots, a rediscovered Beatrix Potter book that will be released for the first time later this year. The cover features the art of Quentin Blake, whose distinctive style will be on display throughout the book. Check out the cover below!
The Tale of Kitty-in-Boots is new to readers, but it’s actually been around for quite a while. In fact, Beatrix Potter first wrote down the tale more than 100 years ago. She sent details to her publisher back in 1914, but the story was never published and was soon forgotten.
The unpublished story remained hidden for decades; but, after publishers rediscovered Potter’s 1914 letter last year, they went hunting in Potter’s files for the story. They uncovered handwritten and typewritten manuscripts and sketches of the characters. That was enough to assemble a final draft and finally publish the story. To complete the illustrations, they brought in Sir Quentin Blake, whose distinctive style is best known for appearing in Roald Dahl’s books.
The Tale of Kitty-in-Boots will be published in the United States and United Kingdom on September 6 of this year. The release date is a significant one – September 6, 2016 is Beatrix Potter’s 150th birthday.
