Beloved children’s book series, Clifford the Big Red Dog by Norman Birdwell, is getting a live-action adaptation produced by Paramount Pictures. The film was originally set to be released in November 2020 but has been scheduled for November 2021.
The movie’s premise seems to follow the plot of the original Clifford book, following Emily Elizabeth (played by Darby Camp) as she adopts a red puppy who gets an incredible growth spurt, but with an action packed twist as she and her Uncle Casey (played by Jack Whitehall) have to protect Clifford from a greedy genetics company. The movie is also getting its own graphic novel, written by Georgia Ball and illustrated by Chi Ngo, titled Clifford the Big Red Dog: The Movie Graphic Novel, which will be published in August of 2021 before the film’s release. A teaser trailer for the film was released on November 25th to some mixed reviews of the CGI Clifford.
