Marvel Studios has taken many liberties with adapting its comic book properties to film over the years. Some were successful; some were seriously not. The latest decision to completely change the appearance of the Kree Supreme Intelligence in Captain Marvel is sure to have some fans scratching their heads.

Cosmic Book News shared a glimpse of a tie-in comic that shows what the Kree Supreme Intelligence will look like in the upcoming film. The character was originally a giant alien head that held the greatest minds in Kree history. Now, the character is much more conventional looking.
The Kree Supreme Intelligence is likely to be played by Annette Bening, who was announced as a cast member but with an undisclosed role.

The change in aesthetic is not a requested one, but, to be honest, it’s a welcome one. Comic book accuracy in adaptations is indeed sacred, but certain exceptions can be made. Killing off the other Hydra Winter Soldiers allowed for better tension in Captain America: Civil War. Having the magical Mandarin in Iron Man 3 would have been a bit silly. The giant alien head stuck in a tube look being altered in Captain Marvel is forgivable.
Captain Marvel arrives in theaters on March 8, 2019.
