Cinderella With Brandy & Whitney Houston Coming to Disney Plus

AHHHHHHH! Nobody panic! Nobody panic! This is not a drill, I repeat this is not a drill!

It was just announced by Ms. Whoopi Goldberg on The View that Disney plus will start streaming Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella on February 12, 2021. This version of Cinderella came out in 1997 and stars Brandy (Moesha) as Cinderella and the queen herself, Whitney Houston, as her fairy godmother.

Unlike the animated Cinderella Disney released way back when, the 90’s film had the original Rogers and Hammerstein score that you would recognize if you had seen the stage production.  With Brandy and Whitney on the tracks, the entire album is flawless!

This version of Cinderella is iconic, not only for it’s star-studded cast—Whoopi Goldberg, Bernadette Peters, Paolo Montalaban, Jason Alexander, etc.—but it was also praised for its effortless representation. From Brandy having her beautiful braids and Whitney’s big, beautiful curls, to the diversity of the cast.

There’s no better time to release it to stream than this month. And let’s not forget that Brandy was the first Black Disney princess! Put some respect on her name! Are you all excited? Will you be watching once it drops? Let us know!
