Alicia Vikander in Tulip Fever

Christoph Waltz and Alicia Vikander’s ‘Tulip Fever’ Release Date Pushed Back

Fans of Deborah Moggach’s novel Tulip Fever: A Novel  will have to wait a little longer than planned for the film adaptation. The Weinstein Company has set a US release date of September 1st, having moved the release date from August 25th to avoid clashes with other films set for release that week.

However, some may ask ‘what’s another week?’ considering the film had originally been planned for a 2004 shoot starring Keira Knightly and Jude Law, and was postponed until 2014 due to government incentive cuts in the UK. The finished product was then set for release in July of 2016, and has been delayed until now.

But the time is nigh, and we might start letting ourselves get a little excited. The film boasts an absolutely glittering cast, including Oscar winner Alicia Vikander, Dane DeHaan, Christoph Waltz, Judi Dench, Holliday Grainger, Jack O’Connell, Zach Galifianakis, Matthew Morrison, Tom Hollander, and Cara Delevigne.

The story takes place in 17th century Amsterdam and focuses on the affair between a married woman (Vikander) and the artist (Dane DeHaan) hired by her husband (Christoph Waltz) to paint their portrait. The lovers gamble on the booming market for tulip bulbs in order to raise money to run away together.
