The Rise of Skywalker

Check Out Our ‘Star Wars IX’ Predictions!

The first Star Wars: Episode IX trailer FINALLY released this past week.

We have a title, a two-minute teaser, and a lot to unpack. We have predictions.

First, the long awaited title — The Rise of Skywalker — there is a chance that this is referring to the redemption of Kylo Ren/Ben Solo and his rise to the light side, or the literal rise of his grandfather, Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, from the Force grave.

Until the release of The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, fans had speculated whether or not Vader would make his return to the galaxy far, far away. The art book ensured hardcores that he would indeed return as an Anakin/Vader Force ghost hybrid character at some point in the current trilogy.

Emperor Palpatine will make a return in some form or another. We hear his legendary evil laugh. We see the ruins of the Death Star from Return of the Jedi at the end of the teaser. There is a chance that Palpatine’s remains or Force ghost accompany the wreckage. Maybe he will return to life using Kylo Ren and Vader’s ghost as Force conduits? The Dark Side makes all sorts of crazy sh*t happen, so anything seems like fair game at this point.

Unlike the previous two films, the Knights of Ren will actually make an appearance this time. The gloved hands on the TIE fighter steering wheel are a dead giveaway. Also, Rey looks epic as she gets ready to end this guy – he’s definitely getting de-knighted.

Also, the current saga has a habit of borrowing elements and plot points from the original trilogy. Given that The Rise of Skywalker runs parallel to Return of the Jedi, and we can see Poe and Finn on a sand-filled planet embarking on some sort of escape/rescue mission, maybe they’re actually rescuing Rey’s mother, unbeknownst to them (or seeking Lando Calrissian’s daughter who will then lead them to Lando).

Bonus: This is more of a fan-service prediction, but I can almost imagine General Hux finally getting his chance to kill Kylo, blasting him in the back, and then Kylo rises from the dead with the spirit of Vader or Palpatine inside him. Hux then gets chopped up into lightsaber barbeque…

It goes without saying that there is plenty for fans to look into with kyber crystal-lens precision and diligence. My fellow nerds, the hype has been ignited. We are the spark, that will light the hype, that will burn the haters down.
