‘Call Me By Your Name’ Received an Insulting 3 Oscar Nominations

The only surprising thing about Call Me By Your Name‘s Oscar nominations is that there aren’t more of them. Tipped for at least six, the movie has been officially nominated in three categories: Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay. Sufjan Stevens has also been nominated for Best Original Song, for ‘Mystery of Love.’

Timothée Chalamet is up against Daniel Day-Lewis for Phantom Thread, Daniel Kaluuya for Get Out, Gary Oldman for Darkest Hour and Denzel Washington for Roman J. Israel, Esq

James Ivory’s adaptation of the Call Me By Your Name screenplay, while definitely the most hyped of all the Best Adapted Screenplay nominees, has some tough competition from Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber for The Disaster Artist; Scott Frank, James Mangold and Michael Green for Logan; Aaron Sorkin for Molly’s Game; and Virgil Williams and Dee Rees for Mudbound

The adaptation of Deborah Ellis’s The Breadwinner is also nominated for Best Animated Feature. A great year for adaptations!

Check out Sufjan’s beautiful song and have yourself a celebratory weep.
