Butterbeer is Back at Starbucks

Harry Potter lovers and savvy Starbucks customers may know about the secret Butterbeer latte you can order. Now that the holiday season is upon us, fans can once again get the drink, which is identical to the one served at Universal Studios’ Wizarding World of Harry Potter area. This is because Starbucks has just re-introduced its red cups and toffee nut syrup, essential for making the magical drink.

The Butterbeer latte, which has been available since 2013, can’t be asked for directly since it isn’t on the Starbucks menu. Instead, thirsty wizards have to ask their barista for steamed milk with two to four pumps each of toffee nut, cinnamon dolce, and caramel syrup. On top, ask for whipped cream and salted caramel. Whole milk is recommended, but you can substitute for skim or soymilk if that’s what you prefer.

Hogwarts’ favorite drink can even be enjoyed on warmer days through the Butterbeer Frappucino. To order that version, ask for a crème base with three pumps each of toffee nut and caramel syrup. Since these are very specific orders, they’re probably better ordered on off-peak Starbucks hours (if such things exist.) But if you’re looking for a new drink to enjoy and want to feel like a regular Gryffindor (or whatever your House may be), then consider giving this a shot.
