Cheer with me Bridgerton fans, much more drama is coming our way! Netflix has just renewed the hit Regency-era series for two more seasons!
“Bridgerton swept us off our feet,” Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s VP of Global TV, said in regards to the renewal. “The creative team, led by Shonda, knew the material and delivered a beautiful, emotional, romantic drama for our members. They have some exciting plans for the future, and we think audiences will continue to swoon for this show. We’re planning to be in the Bridgerton business for a long time to come.”

After the series debuted on Christmas Day, Bridgerton was viewed by 82 million households in its first 28 days, significantly highly than the 63 million originally estimated by Netflix. Bridgerton is currently the most-watched original series launch to date on the streaming service topping Stranger Things and The Witcher.
The second season of Bridgerton will be adapting the second book in Julia Quinn’s romance series, The Viscount Who Loved Me. It seems likely that the third and fourth seasons will be adapting An Offer from a Gentleman and Romancing Mister Bridgerton, respectively.
Shonda Rhimes, who serves as an executive producer for the series, commented on the news as well. “From the first time I read Julia Quinn’s delicious Bridgerton series, I knew these were stories that would captivate a viewing audience. But the evolution of this adaptation would not be a success without the many significant contributions of the entire Shondaland team. This two-season pickup is a strong vote of confidence in our work and I feel incredibly grateful to have partners as collaborative and creative as Netflix. Betsy and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue bringing the world of Bridgerton to a worldwide audience.”
