Viewers everywhere fell in love with Daphne and Simon in season one of Netflix’s period drama Bridgerton, based on Julia Quinn’s book series of the same name. In January of this year, Netflix announced the show was renewed for a second season, and then in April, the streaming giant revealed the show would continue for a third and fourth season.
While Daphne and Simon will not be at the forefront of the upcoming seasons, there is plenty more drama, romance, and adventures awaiting the other Bridgerton siblings in their own journeys to find love. According to Bustle, Bridgerton season two is centered around Anthony’s “quest to find a Viscountess” and is based on The Viscount Who Loved Me, the second book in the Bridgerton series.
The third season will focus on Benedict Bridgerton and is adapted from the third book in Julia Quinn’s series, An Offer From a Gentleman. According to the synopsis, Sophie Beckett is the daughter of an earl, but forced into the role of a servant by her stepmother. She manages to sneak into Lady Bridgerton’s masquerade ball one night and finds herself swooning in Benedict’s arms. However, Sophie knows that “all enchantments must end when the clock strikes midnight,” and leaves Benedict enamored and determined to find her again.
Benedict refuses to think of loving any other except the exquisite woman he danced with at the masquerade. However, he finds himself slowly falling for a humble maid who seems oddly familiar. Benedict resolves to rescue this servant girl from her unhappy situation, but feels torn by his feelings for the girl from the ball. Little does he know that he’s falling in love with the same person: Sophie Beckett.
The “Prince Charming” central to the fairytale-inspired season three is Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton. Currently, no information is available as to which actress will play Sophie. Most of the main characters from season one will return, except René-Jean Page who played Simon.
According to Bustle, one slight complication may influence the events in Bridgerton season three. Viewers saw Benedict’s affections for Genevieve Delacroix in season one, but this character does not appear in the book series. Whether or not she will influence Benedict’s feelings towards Sophie is a question fans will have to ponder for now.
There are no release dates for Bridgerton seasons two, three, or four available at this time.
