@bookishlyabigail – Bookstagrammer of the Week

It’s a new week, and with that, we here at Bookstr have a new bookstagrammer for you to check out! Today, we are featuring @bookishlyabigail. Her Bookstagram will fill your Instagram feed with warm, bright, and cozy book photos. Read our interview with her below.

Why did you start your Bookstagram?

I started my Bookstagram for two main reasons. I wanted to connect with other readers and find a way to express myself online creatively. Reading has always been my favorite hobby, and I had no idea how warm and welcoming the community would be. It’s amazing.

Where are you from?

I’m from Tennessee!

What do you want your Instagram to bring to the world?

I want my Instagram to be a cozy space for anyone interested in finding reading recs, book chats, and an extra friend.

Fun Fact about you:

I recently launched my own small business selling cozy candles, Well and Warm (@shopwellandwarm on IG)! It’s a really fun venture that I think ties perfectly with the bookish world.

Favorite Bookstagrammers:

Oh, SO many! Just to name a few, I really admire @thebibliotheque, @abigailscupoftea, @whisperingchapters, @findherreading, @bookishkaren, @chaptersofmay, and @inquisitivebookworm, to name just a few.

Favorite Books and Authors:

I feel like my favorites are constantly changing, so I’ll say my favorites right now are The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas, the ACOTAR series by SJM, and The Hating Game by Sally Thorne.

Fictional Crush:

Oooh this is a fun question! I have to pick a few- Rhysand (ACOTAR series), Mr. Darcy (Pride & Prejudice), and Jack Hawthorne (Marriage for One), and Edward Cullen (yeah…from Twilight hehe).

TBR List:

At the top of my TBR has to be the From Blood and Ash series by Jennifer Armentrout. I know so many people who have read and loved those books. I’m also really looking forward to reading The Brown Sisters books by Talia Hibbert! And an endless amount of other fantasy and contemporary romances.

What’s your special approach to content?

I always attempt to simply capture a moment. What I mean by that is that I want my page to feel comfortable and not too staged, so I like to opt for simple moments of beauty. And I also love to incorporate our cats. We actually have four, so as you can imagine, they can be really sweet and fun!

Aesthetic / Instagram page theme:

I strive to have a warm-toned, bright, cozy aesthetic.

How often do you post?

I post at least five times a week. Oftentimes, it’s every day!

What does your Bookstagram mean to you?

It’s given me confidence in my interests, new friends, and a really fun means of expression.

Favorite Bookstore:

I have to go with Barnes & Noble and McKays.

Who would you have supply you with a lifetime of books?

Ooooooh. Berkley Romance (I swear I constantly want to order their releases) or Amazon (because of the variety, oh my goodness, just thinking about it is a dream)!

Author to take a selfie with:

Probably SJM- she’s such a celebrity in the Bookstagram fantasy-reader world!

Favorite book cover:

I’m not sure if this counts, but I’m obsessed with Juniper Books dust jackets. I have their ACOTAR trilogy set, and it’s my absolute favorite! I’d love to order their versions of classics someday too.

Book you have claimed to have read that you didn’t:

The Picture of Dorian Gray. I like to attempt classics but gracious, I just couldn’t get through this one.

When did you know you had made it as a Bookstagrammer?

Hmmm, I think the moment I first felt like I’d really made something of my account was when Forever Publishing reached out to ask if I’d like to work together. It was the first book publishing company to ever do so, and they’re so kind and amazing.

Favorite fandoms:

ACOTAR, HP, ToG, and I have a feeling I’ll be adding FBAA to the list soon.

Advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers:

Oh my gosh, have the BEST time posting what you love, try to do so consistently, and engage with those around you to build bookish friendships! People are drawn to both your bookish content and personality, so make sure you’re shining through, too.

Additional bookishness:

I just want to say that if you’re here, thank you for taking the time to read this! I appreciate it so much. And if you’re ever in need of a new bookish friend, you know where to find me! My DM’s are always open.
