The Adam Craig Foundation, started by the singer or the same name, just made a generous contribution to a local elementary school: a book vending machine.
Parkside Elementary School in Tenino, Washington received the machine today with the help of Craig, who was in town for the annual Four Square Mile Music Festival.
The vending machine is powered by “golden tokens” that are awarded to students with good behavior and academic success. These tokens can only be used for the vending machine, and regular quarters will not dispense books.
The addition of a book vending machine fits in line with the principal of the school’s mission to help students read more, especially for those who do not have access to many books:
“About half of our students come from families who don’t have a lot. Reading is so important at this level, so it’s become part of our mission here at the school.”
