Disney’s live-action Prince Charming film just took a massive leap forward. Beauty and the Beast screenwriter Stephen Chbosky will pen the script and may also direct.
Little is known about this one, including whether the Prince Charming in question will be Cinderella’s or Snow White’s. If it is Cinderella’s, then this may be a spin-off of 2015’s hit live-action Cinderella, in which Prince Charming was played by Robb Stark himself, Richard Madden. It’d be nice to see Madden return to the role, but it’d be even nicer to see Lily James back on the big screen.

Besides Beauty and the Beast, Chbosky’s got some serious writing cred under his belt. He penned the beloved The Perks of Being a Wallflower and then wrote the screenplay for its movie adaptation and then directed that movie, which was also beloved. He adapted his latest film, Wonder, from R.J. Palacio’s novel of the same name. That’s being released this weekend, and already has a solid 81% on Rotten Tomatoes. This guy’s got writing chops!
Stay tuned for more coverage on how Disney will continue to reimagine everyone’s beloved fairy tales. Hopefully Chbosky’s got some interesting ideas for Prince Charming. Maybe he’ll even give him a more convincing name!
