‘Batman’s Alfred Getting His Own Comic Book Series

Batman has always been, and will always be, a fan favorite in the many worlds of comic books and superheroes. With his immense toolkit of do-goodery, the caped crusader has been able to take down many villains and criminals while maintaining his everyday facade as millionaire, Bruce Wayne. However, although Bruce takes much of the deserved spotlight in his stories, there are so many other characters that fans have wanted to appear in their own solo works. Now, a certain beloved butler is getting his very own series!

This news comes just as DC’s prequel series Gotham comes to a close. Although many of us have thoroughly enjoyed our wild ride with detective James Gordon in the prequel, after it’s ending fans will only crave more backstories on many more characters. Thus, this new series starring Jack Bannon as the titular Alfred Pennyworth, will hopefully sate fans.

The series, called Pennyworth, will take us on a journey of how the ex-S.A.S. agent rose through the ranks to become one of the most formidable combatants to ever enlist. We follow Alfred as he leaves the military to start his own security company and ultimately work with Thomas Wayne, A.K.A. Batman’s father.

Pennyworth has been ordered by Epix to start with an initial first season of ten episodes. For many fans of Batman, this series as a must-watch, as there are not many things that we know about Alfred’s life before his work with the young master Wayne. The series was reported to be filming in London this past August, so we may be seeing the series come out sometimes soon after the new year.
