The anime community is in for a treat! We’ve finally got an official date for when part three of the final season of Attack on Titan will be released. According to Crunchyroll, the show premieres on March 4, only a little way down the road. It’s been nearly a year since part two of the series finale came out, and 13 years since the anime originally aired. It would be an understatement to say that anime fans have been waiting long enough for the show’s conclusion.
While many are celebrating the fact that we’ll be getting to see our favorite characters again, there’s one little catch that almost every anime fan has experienced. Part three of the finale will be broken up into two parts. So, while we might be getting more Attack on Titan content in early March, we’ll still have to wait for the show to reach its end. Keep reading to find out the inside details of the final season and hilarious reactions to the ending being delayed, yet again.
Attack on Titan Release Date
On January 17, Crunchyroll– one of the most popular anime streaming platforms–announced that Attack on Titan would be returning on March 4, 2023. Part three of the series finale will air in Japan on the NHK General network at 12:25 AM. Previous director, Yuichiro Hayashi, has returned to MAPPA studios to conclude the legendary adaptation. It’s taken years to get to this point, but it seems like we’ll have to wait even longer to see the final panels from the manga animated.
It’s still unknown when the second half of part three will come out, but Crunchyroll estimated that it should be released sometime during 2023. With the ending of the show still hanging in the balance, we’ll have to take what we can get once the first part comes out in March. But this next part of the story is about to take an even darker turn.
Take a look at all the death and destruction that’s to come in the final season with this new trailer to promote part three.
MAPPA Halted by Delays
Considering the number of adaptations that MAPPA studios is about to take on for 2023, it’s not entirely surprising that Attack on Titan is getting delayed once more. This hasn’t been the first time that AOT fans have had to wait for the anime to be released. One of the longest delays for the show happened after the first season. Over four years passed before the second season aired in 2017. This series has been 14 years in the making (if you include the original manga, Shingeki no Kyojin). So while many of us are somewhat disappointed, this is just the name of the game in the anime community.
Amongst making the final season for Attack on Titan, MAPPA has also taken on more notable projects such as Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, Hell’s Paradise, and possibly even One Punch Man. And that only accounts for a small amount of work that MAPPA is taking on this year. With so many famous adaptations coming, it makes a little more sense as to why part three of the season finale is going to be divided and delayed.
Attack on Titan Fans Commiserate With Comedy
With the incoming news, fans of the show couldn’t help but celebrate and concede to the fact that the real ending may still be a year off. But leave it to Twitter to make fun of the whole situation.
Even though the Attack on Titan final is being divided once more, let’s keep our heads up! Exciting things are still to come on March 4 and beyond. If you’re really pressed to know the ending, pick up the manga to find out all the details, or rewatch the season from the very beginning to relive all the triumphs and downfalls of humanity. Until then, make sure to come back to Bookstr for future news of the season finale of Attack on Titan!
