The book tells the story of a sixth grader, Margaret,  who is going through puberty. She also has a lot of questions about the universe that comes with growing up and dealing with the changes that happen during puberty. It’s a great coming of age novel for girls and boys, even though it was released over 50 years ago the heart of the story is still important and meaningful today.
According to Forston, she is excited to play Margaret because she is funny and awesome. Forston, even sees herself in Margaret, which means she’s the perfect choice for the role. Rachel McAdams will be portraying her mom and according to author and icon, Judy Blume, she is overjoyed that Margaret’s mom will be fun and sexy.

Over the years Blume has received a lot of offers to adapt Margaret to screen but has turned them all down. Until she got a call from Kelly Ferman Craig, a writer and director, last year who was very persuasive. Kelly and her mentor, producer James L. Brooks, met with Blume about the book and she fell in love with them both. Especially since they produced the 2016 film The Edge of Seventeen. Now they’re about to start production on Margaret in April. Blume will be able to be apart of half of the film at least and even though it was hard for her to let go of Margaret, the book will always be the book and the movie will be something special as well.
