Just months after immigration-themed anthology series Little America was announced by Apple, the tech giant has now ordered an eight-episode series from Big Sick duo Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon.

The series will be based off true stories included in the Epic Magazine feature under the same name. More relevant now than ever, the series aims to go beyond the headlines and to dive deeper into the funny, romantic, heartfelt, inspiring, and sometimes surprising stories of immigrants in America.

The stories, originally published in Epic Magazine, share stories about a woman who kissed a car for fifty hours, a man who escaped communism via zip line, the Hindu mayor of a small Kansas town, and many more. These stories highlight how “everyone here came from somewhere else”

The stories shared through Epic Magazine and soon to be through Apple give faces and personalities to the headlines recently seen regarding immigration and its policies.

Apple has not planned a release date as of yet.
