Deep in the forest, in an abandoned boxcar, we’ve fallen in love with Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny. Gertrude Chandler Warner created The Boxcar Children in 1924 and continued to write numerous others, with other writers’ help. In total, there are over 160 Boxcar Children novels and most have been written by others for the series after Warner’s death.

In 2014, an animated movie adaptation was released with actors, Martin Sheen and J.K. Simmons joining the voice cast. A sequel is in production and it will be callled, The Boxcar Children: Surprise Island. J.K. Simmons and Martin Sheen are returning and the cast has added “Joey King (Independence Day: Resurgence) as Jesse Alden, Carter Sand (Frozen) as Benny Alden, Gil Birmingham (Twilight) as Lonan Browning, Griffin Gluck (Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life) as Henry Alden, Stephen Stanton (Star Wars Rebels) as Capt. Daniel, and Talitha Bateman (The 5th Wave) as Violet Alden” according to Animation Magazine.
This is the first of three adaptations planned for the series. Surprise Island is set to launch next fall and is sure to bring out all of The Boxcar Children fans.
