If you are a fan of Lord of the Rings or a loyal Bookstr follower, you may already know that Amazon is planning to bring Tolkien’s Middle-earth back to the small screen. You may also know that they plan on spending no less that half a billion dollars doing so! And now, the journey is further ready to set off with the confirmation of developers for the production.
Vulture report that JD Payne and Patrick McKay have been chosen. Best known for their Star Trek 4 and Jungle Cruise scripts. Though it remains uncertain the duo will serve as showrunners or head writers, the news has already stirred the water in every fan’s heart. The duo further excited us with the following statement:
The rich world that J.R.R. Tolkien created is filled with majesty and heart, wisdom and complexity…We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Amazon to bring it to life anew. We feel like Frodo, setting out from the Shire, with a great responsibility in our care — it is the beginning of the adventure of a lifetime.
Amazing and exciting, right? I know you’re over-the-moon, but promise me: you won’t put on that malicious ring and look at the Sauronian eye!
