Amazon Announces ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Series

A new YA horror series, I Know What You Did Last Summer, is coming to Amazon Prime based off of the 1997 classic slasher film of the same name.

This modern day series is not only influenced by its slasher film precursor (with young stars, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prince Jr.) but also Lois Duncan’s 1973 horror series, again entitled I Know What You Did Last Summer. Written by Sarah Goodman, the new Amazon series will again explore the terror-filled summer of a group of teens with a gruesome secret. As they flee from the reality of a fatal accident that they caused and covered up, a mysterious serial killer hunts them down one by one on their graduation night.

“The best horror franchises always have another scare coming, and this I Know What You Did Last Summer series from Sara Goodman is a perfectly twisted update to the iconic slasher movie,” said Albert Cheng, COO and CO-Head of Television, Amazon Studios. “Any way you slice it, our global Prime Video customers will love this modern take on the fan favorite film.”

The original film grossed $125 million, and to this day is considered one of the must-watch movies of the Halloween season. Get ready for Amazon Prime’s upcoming slasher series, bringing back the 90’s throw-back to the screen with a modern-day twist!
