The upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff show 10,000 Ships will be written by Amanda Segel, who was a co-executive producer on Helstrom and Person of Interest.

According to Deadline, 10,000 Ships will document the journey of “the warrior queen Princess Nymeria and the surviving members of the Rhoynars, who traveled from Essos to Dorne following their defeat by the Valyrian Freehold in the Second Spice War.”

These events occurred approximately 1,000 years before the events featured in George R.R. Martin’s bestselling series A Song of Ice and Fire, which the HBO hit television series Game of Thrones is based on. Fans might recognize the name “Nymeria,” as this was the name the character Arya Stark (played by Maisie Williams in the HBO show) named her pet direwolf.

Fans longing to return to the world of Game of Thrones are definitely in luck! Besides 10,000 Ships, a few other Game of Thrones spinoff shows are currently underway or in development. House of the Dragon, which focuses on the Targaryen dynasty 300 years before the events in A Song Of Ice And Fire, has already begun production and is expected to come out in 2022.

Deadline reported that two other confirmed upcoming series are 9 Voyages aka The Sea Snake and Flea Bottom. Both a series based off Martin’s Tales of Dunk & Egg novellas and an animated Game of Thrones series are also possible HBO shows we might expect to see one day.
