Avengers, Bond, and Game of Thrones actress Dame Diana Rigg has died this morning at the age of eighty-two. Her daughter, Rachael Stirling, stated that she died of cancer after being diagnosed in March. Stirling announced the news earlier today by writing, “My Beloved Ma died peacefully in her sleep early this morning, at home, surrounded by family. I will miss her beyond words. She spent her last months joyfully reflecting on her extraordinary life, full of love, laughter and a deep pride in her profession.”
Rigg played secret agent Emma Peel of the Avengers in the 1960s. She was also the only Bond girl to marry 007. Playing the role of Tracy, she got hitched to George Lazenby in the 1969 film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service but was killed just moments after the wedding. Rigg also appeared in Game of Thrones as Olenna Tyrell between 2013 to 2017.

Last year, Diana spoke to BBC about her role in the Game of Thrones series,
I love playing bad [characters]. They are so much more interesting than good. There are some actors who don’t like to play bad; they like to be liked. I love to be disliked. Olenna had the best lines.
Diana was the recipient of Bafta, Emmy, Tony and Evening Standard Awards for her on screen and stage work.
