Great news for fans of Jeff Kinney and his acclaimed Diary of a Wimpy Kid series: a new Wimpy Kid book is due out this year! The new book will be the 11th installment in the popular series, and it’s planned for a November 1 release.
Jeff Kinney announced the new book on his website this week. The November 1 release date will hold true all around the world – Jeff’s international publishers will release the new book in at least 20 countries on the same day that his US publisher, Abram’s Amulet, releases the book here.
The new Wimpy Kid story will continue a saga that began in 2004 with a series of posts on the website FunBrain. Kinney’s Wimpy Kid jumped to the print world in 2007 with the publication of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Since then, young readers have devoured a total of ten installments of the wildly popular series, which stars a “wimpy kid” named Greg Heffley. Throughout the series, Greg deals with familiar childhood issues as he grows up and attends middle school and high school. In the most recent Wimpy Kid book, Old School, Greg survives a week without technology.
The new book will be the first since author Jeff Kinney’s 2015 book tour. In a statement, Kinney said the tour hasn’t drained him at all – in fact, it’s just the opposite. “The tour was incredibly energizing,” Kinney explains, “and I feel excited to keep writing for this generation of kids and for generations to come.”
So far, no title has been released for the new Wimpy Kid book.
