A Look at the Potter Family, 19 Years Later

Harry, Ginny, and their son Albus look sophisticated and serious in these new photos from the production of the ‘Cursed Child’.  The actors portraying these characters are fully outfitted in a Potter-esque wardrobe, complete with an oversized robe, a legendary lightning shaped scar, a cozy knit sweater, and a ministry of magic- approved suit, because Harry’s a working man now! And Ginny looks quite similar to her mother, Molly. Even if we can’t make it to London to watch the play, seeing our beloved witches and wizards (and theirs kids!) all grown-up is super fun!

Pottermore confirmed the casting of Jamie Parker as Harry, Sam Clemmett as Albus, and Poppy Miller as Ginny. The production of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’, written by Jack Thorne, centers around Harry and his son (but features many of our favorite characters from the seven-book series). Previews are scheduled to begin June 7th at the West End’s Palace Theatre in London, while the opening night for the two-part show is July 30th

The Potter portraits are serving to increase are interest in the show. How has Harry changed? What is his son like? How is the family dynamic? Will these actors pull off grown versions of Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Harry? Only time will tell…

Meanwhile, enjoy these portraits and some commentary by the actors of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ as well as J.K. Rowling herself!

On wearing Potter’s famous glasses and bearing his lightening scar, Jamie Parker says:

“They’re just iconic… In a sense you don’t need more than the scar and glasses, you kind of go, ‘there it is’ and I don’t really know how to put it into words, it’s just immeasurably exciting and I can’t wait to show it to people.”

J.K. Rowling said of Parker, “He simply is Harry now. There’s a kind of relief in watching him, he gets it so right.” How exciting! Rowling also stated that Poppy Miller as Ginny portrays a “kind and cool mother.”

“There’s much I could say about Sam-as-Albus, but we’d be into spoiler territory so quickly I’ll just say we couldn’t have cast better,” Rowling said of Sam Clemmett as Harry and Ginny’s youngest son.

According to Clemmett, the robe is so big because it’s a hand-me-down from Albus’s older brother, James.
