Over the past few years, we’ve been blessed with a vast amount of book adaptations that have hit the big screen or were brought right into our living rooms. But we noticed that there are a few authors who, as of right now, don’t have any slated releases for 2017. Think of this as a call out post; we can’t wait anymore and we wish these authors would publish a book this year!
1) John Green
After the smash hit that was The Fault in Our Stars, Green has been busy with movie adaptations galore. And we can see why! His books have made waves with young adult and adult audiences alike, catapulting him into the public eye. It’s been 5 long years since The Fault in Our Stars was published, it’s time for Green to come back to our shelves!

Even though she made her non-fiction debut this past year, we’re missing Lahiri’s lyrical magic that she gave us with The Lowland. Believe it or not, that was 4 years ago! We hope that her next book will be some fictional magic, but we also hope that she won’t keep us waiting too long.

Undoubtedly one of the most moving contemporary authors of our time, Hosseini’s last novel And the Mountains Echoed received critical praise across the board. If you follow Hosseini on Twitter, you know that he also serves as a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN, making him a very busy man. We give Hosseini a pass because of his humanitarian work, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want another novel!

Flynn is another author whose books have launched her into the spotlight. Gone Girl resonated with a lot of audiences who became fans of her fast-paced, thrilling style. Flynn’s books can be addictive, but it turns out she’s branching out from just writing novels! She’s currently working on writing an HBO adaptation of her novel Sharp Objects, and she’s writing a movie slated to come out in 2018! We know you’re busy Gillian, but don’t forget us bookworms!
Need we say more? How long must we wait for the sixth installment of the Game of Thrones series? At this point, The Winds of Winter lives in myth and we just can’t deal. We may be moving on with this list, but we will never forget, George.
6) Donna Tartt

First of all, a round of applause for anyone who finished The Goldfinch. It was truly a triumph of a novel, rich with story and intrigue; the pages seem to fly off the page! And that’s exactly why we need another book from Pulitzer winner, Donna Tartt. If her next novel is as long as The Goldfinch, it may be awhile until we hear from Tartt again, but it will so be worth it.
Fingers crossed everyone, maybe we’ll get a few surprise announcements! What other authors do want to see a new book from this year? Let us know!
